JAMES EVERETT

James is a film and television composer based in the coastal village of Groomsport, Northern Ireland. Working just a short walk from the sea, he writes music for film, television, documentary, and genre projects across the UK and internationally.

He began playing clarinet before moving to piano and guitar, developing an early interest in film music that would later shape his career. Before focusing fully on screen composition, James spent over a decade working in commercial electronic music, producing and remixing for artists including P!nk, Flo Rida, Samantha Mumba, and Cascada. That period deepened his interest in synthesis, and sound design — elements that continue to influence his scoring work today.

His music moves between electronic texture, piano-led writing, and contemporary orchestral scoring, often shaped by atmosphere and emotional restraint.

Recent credits include the Channel 4 thriller In Flight, the Channel 5 drama Ellis, and the Irish supernatural horror The Morrigan, directed by Colum Eastwood — a continued collaboration following their feature Black Medicine.

His work also includes the Sundance-premiering Bad Day for the Cut, the Galway Film Fleadh winner The Dig, and two documentaries with award-winning producer Trevor Birney: the true-crime series The Dakota Entrapment Tapes and the feature documentary Mitchel, exploring US Senator George Mitchell’s role in the Northern Ireland peace process.

James also writes original songs, featuring local and international artists. The songs reflect his style. Haunting, Dark, Cinematic!!
